Tell us a little about yourself?
I'm a business owner, a science teacher, a mom, and I'm from Virginia Beach in the US. I love my cats and my toddler, baking, cooking, gardening, and reading of course.
What made you become a writer?
I have always liked writing, and I decided one day that I had stories to tell and I needed to put them on paper. It's been incredibly therapeutic for me, and some of these stories have just come pouring out.
Where did the idea for The Cursed Thief come from?
I had the idea for the first chapter one day. I added in the idea of writing with Dungeons and Dragon classes in mind, like a quest you would find in a Dungeons and Dragons game, and there we go. It ended up being far more personal, but that's where it all started.
What is The Cursed Thief about?
It's a story of shared grief, trauma, and finding love and family in unlikely places. More specifically, it's about an unlikely group of people who come together to fight a curse put on the land by a god, and they have to revisit their pasts, which ends up bringing some people closer together, and splitting others up.
Tell us about your main characters are they based on anyone you know?
There are five for this book - because I don't do things halfway apparently. One of them is based on my husband, and one of them is based on me (although I didn't intend that at first). They are diverse and unique, and I love them all.
What tips would you give a new writer?
Oh man, I feel like I'm still a new writer! But I guess I would say two things - first, just write. Write what you love, write what you know, write the book you want to read. And second - don't compare. Everyone does things differently. And that's okay.
