When Donna was offered a contract for The Secret History, her editor asked if she'd do some minor revisions. She told the editor she would not change a single word. If the editor insisted on revisions, the book would be withdrawn and submitted to another publisher.

Not one word was changed.

I didn’t know that but I can see her saying it. She is quite a character and definitely on my list of authors I would like to have a coffee with. She is just under you 🤣
